  • Wijnaldum offered to Bayern Munich but…

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has priced himself out of a move to Bayern Munich.

Wijnaldum is out of contract this summer, meaning clubs outside England could have approached him from January this year to negotiate personal terms for a free transfer, with several top European clubs said to be keen.

But Abendzeitung reports German giants Bayern have now pulled out of the race to sign the 30-year-old Dutchman.

Wijnaldum’s team apparently travelled to Munich but the reigning Bundesliga and European champions felt there was little to no chance of agreeing a deal given his contract demands.

Bayern have historically signed key players on free transfers from rivals, including Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski, and Leon Goretzka.

But Hansi Flick’s side would prefer Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus and are therefore willing to pass on Wijnaldum.

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has voiced out on his contract situation after the Reds defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

Wijnaldum is now into the final few months of his current deal at Anfield, and has yet to extend his stay with the reigning Premier League champions.

Liverpool suffered a sixth successive home loss at the hands of Fulham and the Dutch international addressed the speculation surrounding his future after the game.

“If you’re a fan and you support the team – you support the player and what they do with me,” Wijnaldum told beIN Sports.

“You want to hear what’s going to happen but on the other side, for me, if there’s nothing to say and no news I cannot say something.

“I hope they can understand that and I hope they will stay patient until there’s news.

“The most important thing right now is that we fix things in the game as a team and we get results.

“Talking about an individual, in this case about me and my contract situation – because I just said there’s no news, I think we can focus on better things than on my situation.

“When there is news, we will bring it out.”

Off contract in June, Wijnaldum is free to negotiate pre-contract terms with any foreign club.

And Le Parisien says the Holland international has emerged as a target for PSG.

With Barcelona stalling on their plans to deal in Wijnaldum, Leonardo has spotted his chance to tempt the midfielder to Paris next season.

    I love Wijnaldum, but… – Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted new contract talks with Gini Wijnaldum remain at stalemate.

With the Holland midfielder’s deal to expire in June, Liverpool are battling to secure him to a new contract.

Klopp told Sky Sports: “There is really nothing to say.

“I think I said it all about the fact that I love the person and the player. It’s not good or bad news, it’s just like that.

“If there is a decision, you will know it.”

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has said there was no serious chance of him joining Barcelona this past summer.

The Netherlands international was linked with a reunion with former national team boss Ronald Koeman at the Camp Nou.

While Wijnaldum insists he ‘didn’t have to think about’ leaving Anfield, he admitted things could change when his contract expires next year.

Speaking at a press conference on international duty today, he said: “I don’t think [the Barcelona interest] was that serious, otherwise you would have read a bit more, or more would have happened.

“There was nothing concrete. I didn’t have to think about it.

“I will stay on [with Liverpool] it looks like now. My contract will run for another 10 months.

“It could still change, of course you never know that in football. So we’ll see.”

Gini Wijnaldum has rejected a new contract offer from Liverpool.

Wijnaldum has been locked in talks with the club for over a year now but the two parties are still yet to reach an agreement. His current deal expires next June.

Last month speculation linking him to Barcelona intensified following the arrival of Ronald Koeman.

Football Insider says Wijnaldum has rejected the club’s latest offer of a new deal.

The 29-year-old is believed to be holding out for a contract that runs until at least 2024.

But it appears the Anfield hierarchy are reluctant to commit to a long-term deal on improved wages considering the player turns 30 in November.

Barca Wijnaldum plans rocked by government demands

Barcelona have pulled out of talks to sign Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum.

The Mirror says new Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman had identified Liverpool title-winning midfielder Wijnaldum as his number one priority along with fellow Dutch striker Memphis Depay from Lyon with both stars in the last year of contracts.

But Barcelona’s dire financial crisis has forced them to shelve plans to sign Wijnaldum with the Spanish league’s governing body stepping in to block the move.

La Liga clubs are operating under strict financial guidelines following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Barcelona are struggling with a £510million-a-year wage bill and will not be allowed to buy Wijnaldum and Depay unless they raise the money with player sales first.

They must also pay the same amount as the transfer fee to the Spanish government following financial help given to clubs during the health crisis.
