‘Mind your business’ – Oyedepo slams critics of two prominent pastors quitting Winners chapel

The founder of the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has slammed those criticizing the church leadership following the retirement of two prominent bishops in the church.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the bishop’s remarks come shortly after reports of two prominent Vice Presidents of the church, Bishops David Olatunji Abioye and Thomas Aremu,  exiting service from this October 2024 emerged on social media.

It has been reported that their retirement is in accordance with the operational guidelines of the Liberation Commission, also referred to as the Mandate, which serves as the church’s constitution.

While the church’s founder, Oyedepo, retains the right to serve for life, others must retire from 60 to 55, according to The revised Mandate.

Responding to criticisms, Oyedepo, while delivering his sermon at the valedictory service for Bishop Aremu at Winners Chapel, Orita Bashorun, on Tuesday, said critics should be quiet and mind their business.

The clergyman stated that those wishing for the ministry’s downfall were wasting their lives.

Oyedepo also revealed that the church’s Administrative Policy of 1998 was reviewed in 2001, while The Mandate of 2012 was revised in 2024, adding that the ministry operates by divine order.

He said, “My advice to commentators is to study to be quiet and mind your business. It is wisdom to learn what is working and find out what makes it work. Everything works here.”

Hoodlums invade Winners church, loot pulpit, offering box

Hoodlums in Katsina State, had on Thursday, August 1st invaded the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, looting no fewer than 205 chairs, musical instruments and other equipments worth millions of naira during the ongoing nationwide hunger protest.

On Sunday, the pastor in charge of the Living Faith church, aka Winners Chapel in the Daura Local government Area of the state, David Sarki said that the church service could not be held due to the incident.

He said; “Because the hoodlum took everything inside the church on the first day of the protest, they decided to worship at their various home cells.

“We have two security personnel working in the church; one was on duty while the other was off. When the protest began around 10:00 am, the hoodlums just diverted to the church. Many of them in Keke Napep broke the door and windows and entered the church auditorium.

“They took everything inside the church auditorium, including the wall digital clock, musical instruments, Pulpit, pastor’s chairs, plastic chairs, a desktop computer at the reception, and a scoreboard where the accountant usually kept church documents. They scattered everything.

“Three churches were their target. They succeeded in invading the Living Faith Church and Deeper Life but couldn’t access the third one, the Anglican Church, because of the robust protection at the gate.

“We informed the police and the army about it, and the police told us yesterday that they had made some arrests.

“I am surprised by this attack; when we are thinking about ending bad governance protests, which have now escalated to the invasion of churches, it is something that everyone should seriously condemn.

“My prayer for the perpetrators is that they should repent from what they are doing because for you to enter a church, a place of worship, is wrong, and you know you are not fighting, man. They should seek repentance. I know God is forgiving, and he will forgive them.”

  • What I will do to whoever tries to run Winners Chapel on borrowed money – Oyedepo

What I will do to whoever tries to run Winners Chapel on borrowed money – Oyedepo

Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has warned whoever succeeds him against obtaining loans to run the denomination.

Oyedepo issued the warning while teaching at the church’s headquarters in Ogun State midweek.

“There are many stupid wealthy people who are owing more than they own,” Oyedepo, whose church is nicknamed ‘Winners Chapel,’ said, according to religious blog, Church Gist.

“Your net worth is N1 billion and you are owing N10 billion. That is minus N9 billion. Is that wisdom? And you will be doing big boy around town but the banks know you are a small boy.

“The day they die, they may sell their wife. Wisdom gives peace, so when you say you are at peace they don’t believe you because of the pressure they are under from living above their means, buying a big car on loan. Is that life?

“People just do some funny things in the name of trying to be big. Such people are not in this church.

“When I am going to heaven at my old age, if Jesus tarries, there will be a curse on anyone who borrows on behalf of this church until Jesus returns.

‘You don’t have to if we got to where we are without borrowing. How dare you? Where did you get it from? I am not owing any man living or dead.

“I am going to heaven smiling. I have not cheated anyone,” the Winners Chapel leader is quoted to have said.

Oyedepo’s Winners Chapel runs many branches in Nigeria and around the world. Canaanland, the church’s cathedral in Ogun State, is one of the biggest worship centres on the planet.

The church also runs Covenant University, which is rated as one of the best institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.

  • How I became a billionaire by simply obeying God – Bishop Oyedepo

How I became a billionaire by simply obeying God – Bishop Oyedepo

General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has said he became a billionaire by simply obeying God.

Bishop Oyedepo emphasized that he did not know when he became a millionaire and that when became a billionaire, he was not even aware of it.

Oyedepo made this known in a sermon on Sunday, charging his members to be committed Kingdom promoters from the place where they are.

He said: “God is not a taskmaster. Sir, from 1 Naira position, you are taking strong position in obeying God. The tithe of 10 Naira is 1 Naira. What is your problem? He won’t give you 10 Naira and ask you to bring tithe of 2 Naira. No! When I say such, I say it as God leads me.

“My friend, instead of dropping N10 in a Service and you are going to be in 2 Services, divide it into two: put N5 in the first Service, put N5 in the second Service. God knows your level, don’t pose. But to now look…it is not fair on yourself. It is not on anybody else, it is on yourself.

“Do you know my tithes were part of what we counted in Kaduna when our income was N18,000? But He never failed once. He never failed once! I was giving testimony of N1000 a week. How many years ago? But when you just sit down and be watching, “emm, God will open the windows of heaven.” He won’t open nothing.

“There is what you must do, what I must do to keep the heaven open. But this year, whatever door you have shut against yourself, because people shut the door against themselves, or you don’t know; life and death are in the power of the tongue…you are just destroying the work of your hands by yourself without knowing; nobody here will fall a victim.

“You know how many people can build a rural Church in this place, with N14 million or whatever. You know how many people can build it? You know how many people will never build it? If they have N14 billion, they won’t build one. If they have N140 billion, they won’t build one. Their heart is somewhere else. They are worshipping the coins.

“It took me time to become a ‘Thousandnaire.’ I didn’t know when I became a millionaire. I became a billionaire without knowing by simply obeying God. It’s all about you”.

  • People who criticized my church have gotten leprosy – Bishop Oyedepo

People who criticized my church have gotten leprosy – Bishop Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel has said speaking against men of God can attract leprosy and that many critics of his ministry have been victims of the warning.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Bishop Oyedepo made this known during the Leadership Empowerment Summit at the church’s headquarters, Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.

Oyedepo, who said there was no data to back his claim, however, warned Christians to deviate from criticizing their prophets, saying such attitude attracts dangerous punishment from God.

He said: “Beware of speaking hurt against the Ministry you claim to be part of advancing, it’s a risk.

“Beware of speaking hurt against a Prophet you claim to believe. It is dangerous. It can make a man leprous. It is dangerous. We don’t have the data of how many victims may have come from this warning, but I know quite some would have been victims.

“One of the Leaders in this Nation said, “what we are saying now, Bishop is in his room. he is hearing.” When we give warnings, we give it based on prophetic insights.”

The African richest pastor, however, admitted that criticism is part of what prophets of God must endure, saying it is not a problem.

“Every prophet is ordained to be spoken against. So it is not a problem. It is already written. It is not that it is something that is new,” he said.
