  • EPL: Substitute Mkhitaryan rescues Arsenal against Wolves

Substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a late equaliser to stretch Arsenal’s unbeaten run to 16 matches and deny Wolverhampton Wanderers a famous win at the Emirates.

Ivan Cavaleiro’s close-range finish looked like securing the Black Country club their most eye-catching victory since returning to the Premier League this season.

The visitors pounced on an error by Granit Xhaka, Cavaleiro and Raul Jiminez exchanging passes before the former tapped home.

Lucas Torreira and Hector Bellerin both went close to equalising while leading scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit the post before Mkhitaryan’s 86th minute cross went straight past Rui Patricio.

In a thrilling contest, Wolves almost snatched it in stoppage time when 18-year-old substitute Morgan Gibbs-White hit the bar.

The fifth-placed Gunners are three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham while Wolves remain 11th in the table.

  • EPL: Man City held to 1-1 draw by newly promoted Wolves

Aymeric Laporte’s header rescued Manchester City a draw against newly promoted Wolves as the visitors’ 100% winning start to their Premier League title defence came to an end at Molineux.

Laporte’s first goal for the club, from a smart Ilkay Gundogan cross, cancelled out Willy Boly’s controversial opener.

The Wolves defender had appeared to help Joao Moutinho’s inswinging delivery into the net with his arm as he put the hosts ahead 12 minutes after the break.

Raul Jimenez thought he had given the hosts the lead before half-time, only to be flagged offside.

City had hit the woodwork twice in quick succession in the first half – first, Sergio Aguero fired against a post before keeper Rui Patricio tipped Raheem Sterling’s long-range half-volley onto the crossbar.

Aguero then hit the bar with a free-kick in stoppage time.

A draw keeps Pep Guardiola’s side top of the table for now, with the rest of the weekend’s games still to come.

Wolves remain without a win since returning to the top flight, having drawn with Everton on the opening day and lost at Leicester last weekend.
