Bandits leave out woman, baby; whisk away 18 other passengers in Niger State

Bandits have kidnapped 18 passengers of the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) in Niger State.

According to reports, the attack occurred at Yakila village in Rafi local government area of the state on Sunday, with the bandits leaving a woman and her baby behind and whisking away the other 18 passengers.

The passengers were said to be heading to Minna, the state capital from Kotangora when the incident happened.

The Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Inga confirmed the incident to Channels Television.

Inga who was on his way from Kagara for the revalidation of his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership in the company of the Chief of Staff said they met the scene where the bandits operated.

He explained that they met the woman and her child who were left behind by the bandits.

“The only thing I can tell you now is we have rescued the woman and her baby and she is in the vehicle with us and we are on our way to Minna. She told us that the bandits blocked the way and went away with the other 18 passengers on the bus.

“No government official was among those kidnapped. I can’t give more than that for now because the woman is traumatized and we cannot be asking her too many questions yet,” the SEMA DG said.

Woman undertakes surgery to remove gorilla glue from hair[VIDEO]

Tessica Brown, a Louisiana woman who applied gorilla glue adhesive spray to her hair, has successfully undertaken a surgery to remove the glue — about a month after the occurrence.

The 40-year-old had first shared her story on TikTok, clarifying that she sprayed the glue on her hair after she ran out of her usual hair spray.

She had thought she would rinse it out after a few hours, but was shocked when it refused to come off, thereby given rise to severe headaches.

Prior to the surgery, Brown had her ponytail extension cut off at the root, leaving the base of her hair after taking several drastic steps to remove the permanent glue herself.

She also became a target for unsolicited attention, with many referring to her as “the Gorilla Glue girl.”

After her story went viral, Michael Obeng, a plastic surgeon, offered to help her get rid of the glue (free of charge) — in a procedure that she would have paid $12,500.

Brown had earlier taken to her Instagram page to notify her followers that she would be travelling to Los Angeles to get the procedure done.

But on Thursday, TMZ reported that the procedure was successfully carried out after a four-hour duration.

Speaking in an interview, Obeng said he combined medical grade adhesive remover, aloe vera, olive oil and a dash of acetone to perform the procedure.

“The surgery went well,” he said.

“She had a lot of irritation on the scalp especially the edges of her hair, of her head because of all of the chemicals that she has put in, and the hair was actually very, very tough, very, very matted down, and it would not lift up. She’s very, very lucky that she did not sustain a lot of injury to her scalp.

“She’s been through a lot. I hope that you guys will learn from Tessica’s injuries, or Tessica’s ordeal. Make sure that anytime you guys grab something, make sure you read it.”

Reacting to the successful surgery, Brown expressed her excitement at finally been free from the pains.

“Jesus Christ, I can scratch it,” she said.

Fraudster injects fake COVID-19 vaccine on 92-year-old woman

British police on Friday hunted a fraudster who tricked a 92-year-old woman into handing over £160 to receive a fake coronavirus vaccine jab in what they called a “disgusting and totally unacceptable assault”.

The conman knocked on the door of the pensioner in Surbiton, southwest London, on December 30, claiming to work for the state-run National Health Service (NHS).

She let him into her home, where he jabbed her in the arm with a “dart-like implement” before asking her for £160 ($217, 177 euros), which he said would be refunded.

The City of London Police, which investigates frauds and other scams, said it was not known what substance was injected, but the victim showed no ill effects.

“It is crucial we catch him as soon as possible as not only is he defrauding individuals of money, he may endanger people’s lives,” said Detective Inspector Kevin Ives.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland police warned internet users about a phishing scam in which they are told they are “eligible” for a vaccine before being asked for bank details.

Britain began a mass vaccination programme on December 8 last year, prioritising care home residents and workers, the over-70s, and other vulnerable groups.

Woman dies, three children injured in Osun car crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that one woman died while three children sustained various degree of injuries in a road accident on Gbogan -Ibadan highway on Thursday.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Osun, Mrs Kudirat Ibrahim, disclosed this in a statement by the command spokeswoman, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi in Osogbo.

Ibrahim attributed the cause of the accident to dangerous driving and speeding without adherence to road traffic regulations by the motorists involved.

According to her, the accident occurred on Gbongan -Ibadan highway, 23km away from Sasa bridge, Ikire, Osun State.

She explained that the mishap involved a private car- Ash Toyota Corolla with registration number FKJ627EY which collided with a White DAF Truck with registration number XC606MKA.

The commander said that the three children, who sustained various degree of injuries and shock, were given first aid treatment by the FRSC Ambulance team.

Ibrahim said that the body of the woman has been deposited at the mortuary in OAU Teaching Hospital Ile Ife.

“All items found in the vehicles were handed over to the Nigerian Police Force Ikire.

“The items include a black bag containing some personal effects, a brown suitcase, food items and a black purse containing a driver’s licence, first Bank ATM card and a sum of N18,610,” Ibrahim said .

She explained that a private car- Ash Toyota Corolla with registration number FKJ627EY and a White DAF Truck with registration number XC606MKA had a collision involving the six persons leading to one death.

The sector commander called on road users to comply with road safety regulations to avoid any unwanted situations which may lead to death.

Ibrahim, however, said safety on highways was a shared responsibilities which must not be left in the hands of the corps alone , adding that everyone must be self conscious while using the road.

  • No more the war of the sexes – Owei Lakemfa

    By Owei Lakemfa.

THE Hungarian Parliament in Central Europe on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 made a startling discovery that: “The mother is a woman, the father is a man.” This is an open secret we in Africa have known for thousands of years. It took 134 Members of the Hungarian Parliament to ratify this despite the determined efforts of five parliamentarians who remain unconvinced.

The victorious parliamentarians say their intention is to protect Hungarian families, children and individuals’ rights to self-identify in accordance with their sex at birth. In giving way to religious intrusion in a secular state, the politicians said under the new law, children will be nurtured and cultured on the basis of the country’s new constitutional identity and Christian values. A fundamental part of the new law is Paragraph 1(L) which states that: “Hungary protects the institution of marriage as the association between a man and a woman and the family as the basis for the survival of the nation. The foundation of the family is marriage and the parent-child relationship. The mother is a woman, the father is a man.”

This law, in the areas of sexual relations, marriage and definition of the nuclear family, fundamentally, aligns the Hungarians and the Africans in emphasising collective, traditional and cultural rights over individualism in an increasingly globalised but fractured world.

I have come across some Africans who feel alienated in a world that seems confusing. They had been taught by the church that their traditional polygamy is not only sinful, but criminal because it is called bigamy. Now they are being taught that gayism and lesbianism which they thought were a sin and a crime, are neither sinful nor criminal, but are actually fundamental human rights, sanctioned, for instance, by The Church of England. Now, I ask, if the habitually conservative English gentry can be so radical, where can the traditional radicals seek sanctuary?

In France, a new gender war is imminent as there is an attempt at reversal of roles with women oppressing men. This creeping discrimination against men was evident in Paris with the city appointing almost twice as many women to leadership positions as men. Paris Mayor, Anne Hidalgo revealed that: “In 2018, the city hall employed 11 women and five men for management positions, meaning that 69 per cent of the appointments went to women.” This violates the French quota system which states that representatives of the same gender cannot hold more than 60 per cent of leadership positions.

Consequently, the Paris City Hall was fined 90,000 euros (109,477 dollars). This will serve as a warning to French women that they will not be allowed to ride roughshod over the Emmanuel Macrons and Dominique Strauss-Kahns of this world. It is also necessary to ensure that the gender peace treaty in France is not violated.

The Hungarians and Africans seem light years away from the world of the American, Bruce William Jenner who at 64 in 2015 called his children Kylie, Kendall, Brody, Cassandra, Brandon and Burt to declare that their father was now a woman. Bruce, now calls himself Caitlyn Marie Jenner with all former documents and organs remaining valid.

While the Obama administration had been supportive of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, LGBT, community, the Trump administration has not. But don’t worry, help is on the way as President-Elect, Joseph Biden, credited with pushing the Obama administration to support gay marriage, is like a cowboy hero, galloping to the rescue.

He has started on a good footing by appointing former Presidential Aspirant, Pete Buttigieg as Secretary of Transport. Buttigieg who may make history as the first openly gay to make it to a cabinet rank, had in 2019, made world headlines by openly hugging his husband, Chasten Buttigieg after winning the Iowa caucuses. If he had won the American Presidential elections, would he had been referred to as Mr. President, mindful of the fact that he is a wife?

The American President-Elect has also appointed another gay, Carlos Elizondo as White House Social Secretary while Vice-President-Elect, Kamala Harris has named Karine Jean-Pierre, a Lesbian, as Chief of Staff.

In Nigeria, the most famous ‘Jenner’ is Mr. Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju better known as Bobrisky who has amassed some wealth building his image as a woman. But he states quite clearly that ‘Bobrisky’ is a business brand he built to sell his cosmetics and beauty products and that he is no transgender, but merely a cross-dresser.

In sports where marked discrimination exists especially in the prize money of female and male athletes, there are no plans to end the gender war. In fact, when the Williams sisters; Serena and Venus were playing good tennis, some in the international sports establishment concluded that they must be males and subjected them to various tests. At a point, the Head of the Russian Tennis Federation, Shamil Tarpishev said on television that the sisters are the “Williams brothers.”

Caster Semenya, the reigning 800 metres Olympic champion has been subjected to international harassment since 2009 for running quite well and dominating the tracks. The International Association of Athletics Federations, IAAF, made rules specifically to knock her off the tracks. It ruled that female athletes whose bodies produce high testosterone which is a hormone that promotes increased muscle and bone mass, must take drugs to suppress such hormone. As far as the male-dominated body is concerned, no woman should run so fast. In challenging this stereotype, she declared: “I am Mokgadi Caster Semenya. I am a woman and I am fast.”

There have been gender conflicts since evolutionary times when according to the good book, God carried out the first act of genetic engineering when he created the woman from the ribs of Adam who was clearly on anaesthetics. There might be a debate whether the Original Sin which resulted from Eve giving Adam the forbidden apple, might have been avoided had the latter been absent from the Garden of Eden. But what is clear is that there have been the mythical War of The Sexes in which both sexes flex muscles or try to out-play themselves rather than accept that all human beings are equal.

One advantage of the LGBT ascendancy is that the gender lines might be blurred leading to calling a truce in The War of The Sexes. I am not sure United Nations peacekeepers will be needed to maintain a buffer zone. Also, titles like Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms will become obsolete or undergo transformation as it would be difficult to determine the sex of a husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend.

I need to apply the brakes here before I get into trouble. There are three things you do not debate: religion, Zionism and homosexuality.

  • ‘We agreed to die together’ – 92-year-old man tells court after killing wife of 70 years

‘We agreed to die together’ – 92-year-old man tells court after killing wife of 70 years

A 92-year-old German man – name withheld, on Tuesday in Court admitted to killing his infirm wife after almost 70 years of marriage.

His defence lawyer argued that he acted out of love, rather than self-interest or ill will.

“All these years I cared for my wife to the best of my ability,’’ the elderly defendant said in a statement that was read out to the court in Wuerzburg, a city in the German state of Bavaria.

The husband looked after the 91-year-old woman, who suffered from dementia, essentially round the clock for decades, receiving help just twice a week from a welfare centre, the court heard.

The man is said to have acted out of desperation, overwhelmed by the burden of care and fearing that his wife will be sent to a care home.

The couple, who had no children had purportedly agreed to die together. An attempt by the man to commit suicide was unsuccessful.

According to prosecutors, he smothered his partner with a cover and suffocated her on Nov. 3, 2019.

Prosecutors also believe that the man had seen no other option due to his determination to live a healthy and independent life together with his wife.

The defendant must answer to a manslaughter charge “without being a murderer’’, the chief prosecutor said.

It is assumed that the man was severely depressed when he killed his wife, meaning that his culpability could be reduced in the eyes of the court.

  • Truck crushes woman in front of father’s hotel

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has said that a truck crushed a middle-aged woman at Onihale area, near Owode-Ijako, Ogun on Thursday.

The Owode-Ijako Unit Commander of TRACE, Mrs Temitope Oseni, who spoke on behalf of the Corps Commander, Mr Seni Ogunyemi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, that the incident happened at about 8.23 am.

Oseni explained that a FAW truck, marked BHN 1353, was inbound Onihale area when it suddenly lost control due to brake failure and rammed into a motorcyclist and a woman who was about to alight in front of her father’s hotel.

She said that two boxer motorcycles and four persons were involved in the accident, with a male sustaining injury.

The TRACE unit commander said that the corpse of the deceased had been released to the family for burial, while the injured was taken to Famous Hospital at Iyana-Ilogbo, Ogun, for treatment.

She advised truck drivers and owners to ensure that their vehicles were in good condition before putting them on the road to avoid unnecessary loss of life.

Oseni also commiserated with the family of the victim and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

She said that the truck and the two motorcycles had been removed from the road to ease free flow of traffic in the area.

  • Man narrates how his wife beats him at slightest provocation

Man narrates how his wife beats him at slightest provocation

Olumayowa Afolabi, an auto mechanic, who lives at Odeyan-Akanran road in Ibadan, Oyo State has narrated how his wife beats him at any slightest misunderstanding.

On Tuesday, he asked an Ile-Tuntun Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his 17-year-old marriage to his estranged wife, Mojisola on grounds of disrespect, threat to life and frequent assault.

In his testimony before the court, the petitioner said he was no longer willing to continue in the marriage with his wife so as to save himself the embarrassment of constant beating.

“My lord, if someone had told me that Mojisola would turn out to be beating me, I would have argued that it was impossible.

“It all began in 2018 when she first gave me a deafening slap when I challenged the bad role she played in the fight among four young teachers living in our house.

“Ever since that time, Mojisola does not hesitate to slap me anytime there was an issue between both of us.

“In fact, she got so used to slapping me that she even did it in the presence of her younger siblings who themselves complained against it,” he narrated.

Olumayowa said that her misbehaviour climaxed on January 1st, during the crossover service in church when Mojisola humiliated him by pushing him away in front of the congregation when spouses were exchanging greetings.

“Worst still, she stripped me naked and beat the hell out of me around May because I prevented her from going out late in the night to collect her phone.

“Mojisola has repeatedly shown it times without number that she no longer loves me and as a result denies me my conjugal rites,” Olumayowa said.

However, Mojisola prayed the court not to dissolve the union, adding that her close friend, who was in an amorous relationship with her husband, was the cause of the crack in their marriage.

    She also denied slapping Olumayowa.

“Our church and family friend named Esther Oluremi, who my husband engaged to run our poultry farm, is the one causing disaffection in our matrimonial home.

“The woman has sent her husband packing from his matrimonial home and when we visited her on January 1st, this year, I was in the sitting room when Olumayowa went to her bedroom and I saw him putting makeup powder on her face.

“That was the reason why I pushed Olumayowa in the church. He has also given custody of our children to Oluremi,” Mojisola explained.

In her counter claim, Oluremi said that Mojisola, her friend, was a pathological liar.

She contended that the poultry farm was jointly owned by her and Afolabi’s family and that the children were living with her because they were studying with her own children.

Delivering judgment, Chief Henry Agbaje, held that the damage done to the relationship was irredeemable, hence the dissolution.

He awarded custody of the first two children produced by the union to the petitioner and the last to the respondent.

The arbitrator also ordered Olumayowa to pay N4,000 as the child’s monthly feeding allowance in addition to taking responsibility of her education and other basic needs.

  • Bartender in court for allegedly raping unconscious woman

Bartender in court for allegedly raping unconscious woman

A 20-year-old bartender, Joshua Toryile, on Tuesday appeared in an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, for allegedly raping a 22-year-old unconscious woman (name withheld).

The police charged Toryile with two counts of conspiracy and rape.

The lead state prosecutor, Mr Peter Owolabani, alleged that Toryile committed the offence alongside an accomplice, who is at large, at 2 a.m on Oct. 2, 2019, at No. 1, Professor Olagoke Olabisi St., Lekki, Lagos.

He alleged that the complainant, who is also the victim, who works as a housekeeper, attended a party and had become very drunk.

“She was taken to her brother’s home to regain consciousness . The defendant and his accomplice took advantage of the situation and raped her,” Owolabani said.

The prosecution said the complainant’s brother caught the defendant and the accomplice in the act.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 260 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Justice Abiola Soladoye adjourned the case until Nov. 12 for trial.
