Bournemouth signing Jack Wilshere has enjoyed a dig at Barcelona’s greats.

Wilshere, 29, conducted a Q&A online and was asked about playing Barca at Arsenal in 2011.

And he was quizzed on who he learned most from between Andres Iniesta, Xavi or Sergio Busquets.

Wilshere cheekily responded: “Couldn’t learn much, they all spent the night in my pocket.”

Arsenal famously won the Champions League last 16 first leg with late goals from Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin.

Wilshere started the game alongside Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song and Samir Nasri.

Despite the win, they were eventually knocked out in the second leg, losing 3-1, with Lionel Messi scoring twice.

Barca presidential candidate: Xavi will convince Messi to stay

Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font is convinced Xavi can help persuade Lionel Messi to stay.

The Al Sadd coach has been mentioned as a future general manager by Font should he win election.

He told Mundo Deportivo: “Messi has explained it, he ideally wants to stay here and finish his sports career at Barça. Before the summer, when the great frustration happened, it was what he had always said and had commented that the most important condition for him is to have a winning and competitive project.

“We have a winning, competitive project, with people like Xavi, in which once again, the trust and credibility of the different assets in a project is fundamental, this credibility and this relationship between Xavi and Messi exists, that’s why I believe it is one of the main reasons and guarantees that Messi will feel very comfortable with our project and we will have many options for him to continue.”

But Vilajoana insists Xavi is unproven as a coach, telling Marca: “Xavi as a player was one of the icons of this club and he deserves my utmost admiration.

“But once the football stage is over, other paths open up. He has made his way as a coach in a minor league. He’s doing a good job, but Barça is the greatest in the world and nobody has the magic wand in any position.

“I am in favour of giving opportunities to the great icons of the club who want to return to work at Barça. Always in those positions in which they have had experience, but they have to earn it like any other.”

He added: “I will not be a president looking for names. I am looking for competence, talent, experience…”

“I think he will end up coaching Barcelona, it’s his DNA,” former Barca star Saviola told Radio Marca.

“He’s developing as a coach to gain experience and prepare for taking over at Camp Nou. I am sure he will choose when and how he returns to Barcelona.”
