  • Wizkid, Yemi Alade, others on Beyonce’s Lion King album

    Nigerian pop stars, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage and Burna Boy, are some of the Nigerian artistes who have been featured on the Lion King album curated by international songstress, Beyoncé.
    Beyoncé was part of the remake of “The Lion King” where she voiced adult Nala, the partner of Simba in the iconic film.

     

    The album is titled, The Lion King: The Gift.It will be released on Friday.

     

    Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Yemi Alade also contributed to the project. She took to her Instagram page on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, where she shared the video of herself at the premiere.
    Yemi noted that she was excited to meet the music star at the premiere of the movie.

    “I met A Queen, I mean @beyonce ,Oops I mean Beyonce as Nala in the Lion KiKing; European Movie Premiere,” she wrote.
    The Lion King, Disney’s latest remake of its animated classics brings the animals of the 1994 film to new life with CG animation.
    Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard and John Oliver also star in the movie.

    he remake of The Lion King itself will hit theatres July 18.
    The album features many African artistes from Nigeria, among whom are Wizkid, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage. Also on the tracklist is Ghanaian Shatta Wale. There are also South African singers Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.
    Also on the list are Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, rapper Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Tierra Whack, Moonchild Sanelly, Shake and Jessie Reyez. Beyonce sang solo tracks such as ‘Bigger, Otherside, Spirit, Find Your Way Back.
    Her song “Spirit,” from the film’s soundtrack, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Kid Digital Song Sales Chart following the single’s release last week.

    Yemi Alade becomes first female African artiste to hit 1m YouTube subscribers

    Music diva, Yemi Alade has made history as the first female African artist to hit one million subscribers on video streaming platform, YouTube.
    News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this feat comes months after Alade became the second Nigerian artist to hit hundred million views on YouTube for the song, ‘Johnny’.
    The ‘Oh My Gosh’ singer took to her Instagram page @yemialade to announce the feat and reflect on her musical journey of six years.
    She wrote, “God is the GREATEST, started this journey six years ago. Thanks to everyone streaming / watching my videos and music. Godbless us all.”
    With this feat, Alade joins other entertainers who have over one million subscribers, including the defunct P-Square (1.2 million), Davido (1.5 million) and Diamond Platnumz (2.1 million).
    Her debut studio album ‘King of Queens’ was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group.
    Alade collaborated with producers such as Selebobo, Sizzle Pro, Shady Bizniz, Philkeyz, Young D, GospelOnDeBeatz, DIL, OJB Jezreel, Mr Chidoo, Fliptyce, EL Mcee and Beat Nation.
    The album was preceded by three singles: “Johnny”, “Tangerine” and “Kissing”. It features guest appearances and skits from Bovi, R2Bees, Phyno, Chidinma, DIL, Selebobo and Diamond Platnumz.
    She has performed around the world and shared the stage and songs with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Shina Peters, Wizkid, Becca, M.I, Waje and others.

    Johnny singer, Yemi Alade was in the news sometime last year when she was involved in an argument over who has the better vocal dexterity between herself and Tiwa Savage.

    Her refusal to defend Tiwa Savage on the radio show heightened speculations that the female singers were secretly battling each other for supremacy.

    In a chat with Vanguard, Yemi noted that the public likes to compare successful people with each other, making reference to her alleged ‘beef’ with TiwaSavage.

    “Whatever makes them sleep well at night. I’ll never comprehend why the public likes to pitch successful people against one another, we are all winning, and that’s what is important. But like I said, whatever makes them sleep well at night

    Every female in the Nigerian music industry is doing great and I’m glad for the chance and opportunity to take our music places”, she noted.

    Asked about her recent music collaboration with Rick Ross, she said; “I saw an opportunity and I grabbed it. It was an amazing experience. Rick Ross is a nice person and an inspiration. I admire his work ethics. We both represent a premium brand. We felt it would be nice to come together and do something iconic.” The Effizie Music Group singer who has surprisingly steered clear of messy scandals and controversies since her debut on the Nigerian music scene shared the secret behind this feat. “I know who I’m, where I come from and I surround myself with amazing people”.

    Yemi Alade recruits Rick Ross for ‘Oh my God’ remix

    Nigerian songstress, Yemi Alade has collaborated with celebrated American rapper, Rick Ross for the remix of her song ‘Oh my God’

    The original song showcased Alade singing about her supposed dream man and this remix features some intermittent moments of trap music.

    Music pundits claim that the remix will be on her fourth studio album supposedly titled ‘Woman of Steel,’ slated for release later in the year and will feature acts like Duncan Mighty, Angelique Kidjo, Funke Akindele and so forth.

    This isn’t the first time Alade would be teaming up with an international star.

    Yemi Alade, Rick Ross collaborate on ‘Oh My Gosh’ remix

    Nigerian afro pop singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade and American rapper, Rick Ross are collaborating on the remix of her hit song, ‘Oh My Gosh’.

    Ross is a Grammy award-winning rapper and the founder of record label, Maybach Music Group (MMG).

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alade made her musical debut in an all-girl group called Noty Spices in 2005, but her music became widely popular after she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009.

    The Johnny singer posted a snippet of the remix on her social media platforms, saying: “Africa to the world, #OHMYGOSH remix featuring @richforever(Rick Ross) coming soon.”

    30-year-old Alade released ‘Oh My Gosh’ in 2018 before which she released her debut album, ‘King of Queens’ in October, 2014.

    She has performed around the world and shared stages and songs with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Shina Peters, Wizkid, Becca, M.I, Waje and others.

    Earlier in the year, the songwriter hit a one hundred million view mark on her YouTube platform and emerged the second Nigerian artiste to attain the feat.

    After which she promised her fans that she would be “putting in more work this year” as she was encouraged by the support from them.

    The supremacy battle between Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade is no longer news. The duo have been compared one, with another with many of their fans insisting that one is better than the other.

    A certain fan of Alade recently threw a jab at her, saying the singer’s lyrics is poor and it is the reason Tiwa Savage remains the queen.

    In reaction, an angry Yemi Alade outlined her achievements in 2019, adding that she has toured several countries.

    According to her: “We are barely four months into 2019 and I can count the numbers of countries I have been invited to perform. I am just getting started my fourth studio album will be out in May”, her statement read in part.

     

    TheNewsGuru recalls that back in 2018, Alade threw a subtle jab at Tiwa Savage saying she applies photo enhancing applications to make her butt look bigger.

    “Stop increasing your yansh in your pictures! You know you are straight like ‘I’ embrace your real self!, Ahn ahn, deceiving fans up and down”, she advised.

    Mercy Aigbe was also accused of manipulating her photo on Instagram, where she made her butts bigger than they truly look in real life.

    Today is the 30th birthday of one of Nigeria’s biggest stars, Yemi Alade. The self-proclaimed ‘King of queens’ was born on March 13, 1989.

    Her 2013 hit song ‘Johnny’ is one of the highest rated singles in African music history- it has over a hundred million views on YouTube alone.

    She released her debut album, King of Queens, on 2 October 2014, and then went on tour. Alade then released her second studio album, titled Mama Africa, in March 2016.

     

    Between 2015 and 2016, Yemi Alde clinched the coveted MTV African Music Awards ‘Female artiste of the year’.

    She gained prominence after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009.

    The sexy singer has been romantically linked to her manager, Taiye Aliyu, actor, Alexx Ekubo and singer, Flavour.

    Alade lost her beloved father in 2015 and has since gone on to achieve massive feats in the African music landscape.

    Alade made this achievement with the video of her hit single ‘Johnny’ which she released in 2014.

    According to report, the music hit one million view on her YouTube page, making her to become the second Nigerian artist to attain such a feat.

    The singer, who shared her excitement about the feat on her Instagram handle page @yemi_alade, expressed happiness and thanked her fans for their support.

    The songwriter promised her fans that she would be “putting in more work this year” as she was encouraged by the support.

    NAN also report a month later, the video ‘Johnny’ has followed suit by achieving the landmark numbers of view on the site.

    There has been a supremacy battle between Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade in recent times which further resulted in the damsels having a fight on social media over the size of their buttocks.

    However in a chat with Punch,Alade’s manager debunked claims that the two songstress are having a rift.

    “We are focused solely on music; we have no time for rivalry or anything of that sort. The sky is so big for everyone to fly. Do you think there is a rivalry between Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote? Yemi Alade doesn’t consider Tiwa Savage a rival.”

    Speaking further he noted that Alade isn’t just a Nigerian artiste, but an African ambassador.

    “The only thing is to put in more work; it is never enough. As an artiste, you will always want to have more impact on your community and the world. Right now, Yemi Alade is not just a Nigerian but an African ambassador too.”

    Aliu also said Alade never took criticisms of her music personally, saying that “all she does is to work harder.”

    Earlier on Friday, 21st of December Johnny Crooner, Yemi Alade took to Twitter to throw shots at an unnamed person who according to her has been photo-shopping her bum to deceive her fans on social media.

     

    Yemi urged her fans and colleagues to embrace their true selves, adding that they should stop deceiving their fans by increasing their butts.

    Alade’s statement generated a lot of opinions on social media, with many wondering who she was referring to.

     

    Hours later, Tiwa Savage who thought Yemi Alade threw a jab at her, wasted no time in replying her.She first took to her IG Stories to write a not-so-cryptic message saying she isn’t the one to mess with, thereafter she shared pictures of herself with her accentuated bum.

    Following the backlash Yemi got, she was forced to tender an apology.

    She wrote: “Guys i am not here to defend myself. If my last tweet was offensive in anyway, to my fellow females and guyz i apologise. I am sincerely sorry. I just want us to appreciate ourselves more tin, tall, fat, short. With or without Nyash. WE ARE BEAUTIFUL”.
