    House help connives with three friends to kill banker boss in Yobe

    The Police Command in Yobe said it had arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of Hassan Abubakar, a staff of Damaturu Branch of United Bank for Africa (UBA).

    The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement in Damaturu on Monday.

    Abdulkarim named one Umar Shaibu, 21; Tajjuddeen Taufiq, 20; Ismail Mohammed, 17; and Bulama Modu, 17, all residents of Damaturu as the suspects arrested by the police.

    He said the culprits were apprehended during a sting operations carried out by detectives of ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters.

    “On July 23, 2021 at about 1130hrs a report was received from one Abubakar Musa, an employee of UBA Bank, Damaturu Branch, that the victim, one Hassan Abubakar, a co-employee, did not report for duty and efforts to trace his whereabouts proved abortive.

    “Consequently, detectives swung into action and his home and premises were searched and blood stains were observed on the floor with some iron rods covered with blood, probably used in the commission of the offence.

    “On July 24, 2021 the principal suspect, Shaibu, who happened to be the house help of the victim, was arrested while carting away valuable items from the victim’s house,” Abdulkarim explained.

    “Upon interrogations, he confessed to the crime, stating that on July 22, 2021, he and three other suspects attacked the victim in his house at Red Bricks Housing Estate in Damaturu.

    “They robbed him (deceased) of money but ended up killing the victim, buried the corpse in the compound and fled.

    “On the next day, July 23, 2021 they began to sell the property until they were eventually nabbed by the police which led to the arrest of the three other suspects,” Shaibu said.

    Abdulkarim said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations.

    The spokesman said the Commissioner of Police, CP Yahaya Abubakar who was saddened by the acts of the culprits, condoled with the family of the deceased and assured them of justice.

    He called on members of the general public to be vigilant at all times and report suspicious acts and movements around them to the nearest Police Station or formation.

    BIZARRE! Corpses litter ground in Yobe community after heavy downpour submerges graveyard

    A heavy downpour on Sunday night submerged a graveyard in Yobe State, throwing up buried corpses at the cemetery.

    According to reports, the cemetery is located near a low-cost Housing Estate in Gashua town of Bade local government area.

    TheNewsGuru.com, TNG gathered that hundreds of graves have been ripped open with the flooding throwing dead bodies out of their graves.

    The development shocked residents many of which described it as scary.

    Meanwhile, the Yobe Governor Mala Mai Buni ordered the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to take immediate action to secure the graveyard and contain the situation.

    Executive Secretary of YOSEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, confirmed work was ongoing at the graveyard.

    Goje informed that his agency has commenced building the graveyard with cement blocks.

    “Work is currently ongoing at the graveyard. We have bought in sand to sand fill some of the most flooded area and are building other places with cement block,” Goje stated.

    Buni speaks on security situation in Yobe after days of Boko Haram attacks

    Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday said the security situation in the state generally needed quick response and reassessment.

    Buni made his position known during an emergency security meeting in Damaturu.

    TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that some Boko Haram insurgents invaded communities in Geidam Local Government of the state attacking households and spreading their philosophies. On Monday, a viral video of residents leaving the area surfaced online.

    Speaking on the development, the governor said: “We thanked God for the relative peace we now enjoy in most parts of the state.

    “However, the sad events in Geidam calls for quick response and reassessment of the security situation in our respective communities and the state generally,” he said.

    The governor condemned the recent Boko Haram attack on Geidam town.

    He described the resurgence of Boko Haram attacks on Geidam in which some lives were lost with men, women, children, young and old forced out of their homes as sad.

    Buni said the displacement of the victims in this holy month of Ramadan, was condemnable, crude and grossly inhumane.

    He said that the meeting concentrated on strategic engagement of critical stakeholders to discuss issues of security as they affected individual communities and the state at large.

    He noted that special a security plan was mapped out to figh insurgency in Geidam because of its geographical location, sitting close to the Lake Chad basin.

    Buni also noted that Geidam was bordering Niger Republic and Damasak in Borno, one of the areas heavily infiltrated by Boko Haram insurgents.

    “I am pleased to state that far reaching decisions were made at the meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff especially, on reinforcement of personnel and improved strategy to effectively combat the attacks,” he said.

    The governor enjoined the people to volunteer credible and timely information to the security agencies to enhance proactive actions being taken in curbing the menace of the terrorists.

    “We must expose every bad egg in our communities even if they are our relations, including our biological children.

    “It is our responsibility to report suspicious movements in or near our communities. We cannot keep blaming government and security agencies while people hoard valuable information.”, Buni stressed.

    Boko Haram terrorists distribute pamphlets, attack new IGP’s hometown in Yobe State

    Boko Haram terrorists on Friday attacked Geidam local government area of Yobe State.

    TheNewsGuru.com, TNG gathered that Geidam is the hometown of the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali Baba.

    According to sources, a military jet has been deployed to the town to dislodge the insurgents.

    Geidam previously came under attack on February 9, barely after newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru visited troops

    Information on the number of casualties involved in Friday’s attack was unavailable but residents said there was tension in the town.

    Meanwhile, the terrorists circulated a pamphlet during the attack, urging residents to support their cause to establish a Muslim caliphate or be killed.

    The one-page pamphlet reads in part: “Our major aim: to uplift the word of Allah, protect the religion of Islam and the wealth of the followers.

    “Our target: those who do not believe in our ideology, Christians and even Muslims who do not believe in our teachings.

    “Any Muslim who is not supporting the empire of Islam is our target.

    “Anyone who comes to us for forgiveness, and stop fighting us will be exempted from attacks.”

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared all the 17 Chairmanship seats at the Saturday’s Yobe local government council election.

    Dr Mamman Muhammad, Chairman, Yobe State Independent Electoral Commissions (YBSIEC) disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Damaturu.

    Muhammad said the party also won all the councillorship seats in the entire 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

    Yobe man lands in police net for raping 90-year-old

    The Police Command in Yobe on Tuesday said it had arrested one Mohammed Faruk for allegedly raping a 90-year-old woman (name withheld) in Gadaka town in Fika Local Government Area of the state.

     

    The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement in Damaturu.

     

    He said that the incident occurred at about 2 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 8, when Faruk intruded into the nonagenarian’s room in a compound and forced himself into her.

     

    Abdulkarim said medical examination at the General Hospital, Fika, revealed some drops of semen on the woman’s private part and confirmed that the suspect allegedly raped the nonagenarian.

     

    He said during interrogation, Faruk, 35, also confessed to committing the crime.

     

    The spokesman said that the case would soon be transferred to the state CID for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.

     

    Abdulkarim appealed to the general public to always assist the police with vital information to fight crime, saying the command was combat ready to protect lives and property of the citizens.

    Police arrest four men for allegedly gang raping 2 minors in Yobe

    The Police Command in Yobe on Monday said it had arrested four men for allegedly gang raping minors in various parts of the state.

    The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu.

    He said three of the alleged rapists, Musa Mohammed, 25, Mohammed Dahiru, 27, Adamu Saidu, 46, were arrested on Dec. 25 by men of Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters for allegedly gang raping a 13-year-old girl.

    Abdulkarim said the rapists took advantage of Christmas break to lure the girl into Brema Primary School in the town and had carnal knowledge of her.

    Similarly, the spokesman said that the Geidam Divisional Police Headquarters had on Dec. 26, arrested one Bako Umaru, 35, for allegedly abducting and raping an 11-year-old girl at Hausari area, inflicting severe injury on her private part.

    He said the girl lost excess blood in the act and was receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Damaturu, after Umaru forced himself into her.

    Abdulkarim also said one Mohammed Jajere, 27, was on Dec 26, arrested by men of Gashua Divisional Police Headquarters for allegedly raping a young nursing mother at Garindalal area of Dagona Ward.

    The spokesman said Jajere raped the woman, who was recuperating from child birth, when he broke into her residence in the area with the intent to steal.

    He said all the cases were under going ‘ discreet’ investigation in the command, assuring that the perpetrators would be prosecuted after investigations were completed.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that cases of alleged rape, especially against minors, have continued to soar in the state.

    Abdulkarim said in December only, nine cases of alleged rape involving minors were reported in various divisional stations in the state.

    He, however, said the command was combat ready to deal decisively with criminals in the state.

    The spokesman, therefore, appealed to citizens to always assist the police with credible information about crime to safeguard lives and property.

    DAMATURU- Over 30 villages has been submerged by flood in Bade local government of yobe State and farm lands washed away before the harvest period .

    This is as a result of Fika Challawa Dam in Kano that got over flow and the dam water is open for easy passage to Hadeja dam .

    Gashua is prone to flood which is perenial . Almost all the raining season that use to last for 4 months , villages around Bade local government use to observed flood .

    But this year raining season have almost gone with little flooding without much damage to houses and farm land .

    When the residents thought they are done with this year flooding , they woke up last week to see houses and farm land washed away by flood from the over flown river yobe .

    The villages affected by the flood include , Kurkse , Yau , Dachia , Kazir , Karage , paya , Dawayo , Usur , Bululu , Tungar , Baure , Dagona , Bida , Bizi , Dala , Sugum etc .

    Following the assessment conducted by SEMA across 30 communities in Bade local government , the state government swung into action by providing sacks and sand and creation of embarkment .

    Affected house hold were been provided with flood items . The governor of yobe state , His Excellency , Hon . Mai Mala Buni has approved and direct immediate support to over 3500 victims of the flood .

    The Yobe State Police Command reportedly killed three suspected kidnappers, arrested four others and rescued a victim.

    According to reports, kidnappers numbering about 15 reportedly stormed Kesawa village in Yobe state and abducted a wealthy Fulani man named (name yet to be ascertained) in the process

    The kidnappers armed with AK 47 rifles were said to have collected about 4 million naira from the victim’s family before whisking the man to an unknown location in the bush

    However, the Nigerian police chased and ambushed the suspects killing three , arrested four, and rescued the victim from the hands of the kidnappers.

    The arrested kidnappers are currently undergoing interrogation at the Damaturu police station B Division.

    Gunmen kidnap Yobe village head

    The District Head of Mashio in Yobe State, Isa Mai Buba has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

    Buba, according to village sources, was captured from his house in Mashio, Fune Local Government Area of the state.

    A family source told newsmen that the kidnappers have not made any contact with the family.

    The sad occurence was said to have happened at about 10pm on Saturday night.

    Police state that they have launched a manhunt for the gunmen with a view to rescuing the traditional leader and bringing his assailants to book.

    Command’s spokesman Dungus Abdulkareem in a statement confirmed the incident, saying that the kidnappers attacked the district head’s house with “heavy firearms and disappeared with him into the thin air.”
