He pointed his fans’ attention to the meme which read: “When you are about to kneel down to propose and you see Pete Edochie behind you.”

Pete, 72, had appeared in a viral video on February 20, criticising men who get on their knees to propose to their partners.

According to him:” Any young man who gets down on his knees to propose to a girl is not just an idiot, he is a bloody fool. The reason why I am saying this is simple, we try to copy white people .I believe I the core of our culture. The white man knees down to propose to a girl. You know what it means? The girl takes over the family. This is why whenever you disagree with your wife overseas, you are kicked out and your wife takes over the house

“I have lived with my wife for 51 years, nobody has come to say, please stop beating this woman. Is it hatred that united us? It means you are an idiot.

“If you call that civilization, it is alright, kneel down before your wife, I will sympathize with you when she takes over the home”.

As expected some Nigerians disagreed with the actor.

Actor, Stan Nze wrote: ”I’m going to propose to my wife kneeling and I will still be the head of my home and I will live with her for 51years and even more. Do what works for you”.

Nigeria is stuck with leaders who can’t move the country forward-Yul Edochie

Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie has shared his opinion on the claims made by the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola that Nollywood movies could be fuelling kidnapping and ritual killings given the number of people the police have arrested with human skulls and other body parts in recent times.

According to the Anambra State-born actor, filmmakers would not stop making ritual movies because it is all about entertainment.
“Sadly, at the moment Nigeria is stuck with a crop of leaders who can’t move this country forward, rather they look for who to blame for their inefficiency. America has been producing action movies with plenty of gun violence since I was born. Have you ever seen any American leader blaming entertainers for crime in their country? That’s because it’s all about entertainment and it ends there.

“Our government should focus on providing jobs for the youths, spread wealth, improve the economy and security and crime rate will reduce. It’s very simple. They should stop looking for who to blame and do the jobs they were voted in to do or resign for others to try. Next thing, you’ll see them thinking of how to ban Nollywood and render more people jobless,” he said.

If you celebrate Independence, you are part of our problems- Yul Edochie declares

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has said Nigerians who celebrate the country’s 59th independence anniversary are part of the nation’s problems.

The award winning movie star and politician took to his Instagram page where he recounted how he received invitations to a couple of independence day shows and turned down all of them because he could not find anything worth celebrating.

Edochie noted that ever since he was born, the country has rather amassed more problems for itself instead of achievements.

“I’ve been invited for a couple of independence day shows to celebrate Nigeria at 59 on October 1st and all that. I turned down all those shows cause, honestly, I don’t see what we’re celebrating. What are we celebrating?” Edochie asked.

“I’m 37 years old. All the problems that Nigeria had right before I was born are still there with more added. So, what are we celebrating? The list is endless: joblessness, poverty, insecurity, killings everywhere, the youths doing nothing but begging money on social media.

“We’re not achieving anything! I mean, we need to tell ourselves the truth for us to move forward in this country. Even if things are good for you, what about other people? I believe you are part of our problems if you’re planning to celebrate Nigeria at 59.”

Yul once indicated interest to contest for Nigeria’s presidential seat.

“I don’t understand why my people are suffering. Governance should be about giving the best. Anything short of this is a failed project. It breaks my heart and these people don’t care. People are suffering. I want to fix the problems of the people. I want to give them the good life they deserve,” he had said.

  • I had no money in my account when I got married at 22- Yul Edochie

I had no money in my account when I got married at 22- Yul Edochie

Acclaimed Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has revealed that he had no money in his account when he got married at the age of 22.

The father of four made this known while replying a fan who made a remark about a family photo he shared on Instagram.

In an interview, Edochie stated that he got married at 22 because he didn’t want someone else to get married to his wife.

“I got married in every way a man does. Traditional, church, every every. That was in 2004, I was quite young though.

I think my parents helped me because I have known my wife for a long
time. Just about when we got into school that was when I met her. Even before I finished school my mother knew I was going to get married to my wife; she really likes her a lot.

So, by the time I finished university at the age of 22, I really wanted to get married to her but I had nothing and she had nothing. We
just finished school were still doing our youth service then. I was
talking with my mother and she asked me if I wanted to get married and I
said yes and my mother told me I shouldn’t worry that she was going to
talk to my father and she did.

“My mum also warned me that if I hope to marry her when I have enough money, someone else might take her away. She told me my father wasn’t rich when they got married but today he is the person he is. So,
you see you can really plan this things, the most important thing is
finding that person who understands you and who wants to be with you
when you are nothing. And if I hadn’t done that then, it would be such a
problem for me now to find the right person to marry.

“Everybody wants to come in then you won’t know who is real. I would say I was lucky to have someone who said I am going to be with you, even when I
    had nothing.” he said.
