What I always told Yul before his son died – Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie has disclosed he always told his son, Yul that he does not like people excelling like his late grandson, Kambilichukwu, was doing before his death.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Kambilichukwu reportedly died on Thursday morning after falling while playing football with his schoolmates.

He was said to have developed a seizure after the fall and was rushed to Mother and Child Hospital, Lagos, where he was confirmed dead.

Speaking with Vanguard, Pete Edochie disclosed that experience taught him that people like Kambilichukwu, who excel in anything they are involved in, don’t last long.

The legendary actor said his son, Yul, called him on the telephone on Wednesday, informing him about the incident and that his family started praying for the child immediately.

“Kambilinachukwu is a very quiet, brilliant and talented child. He’s not somebody you can ride easily. He doesn’t get angry no matter the situation.

“He may change his composure, but he was definitely a very unusual person in so many respects. He was so accomplished.

“I always tell my son that I don’t like people excelling like this in anything they are involved in. Experience has taught me that such people don’t last long,” Edochie said.

Edochie said it was unfortunate that his grandson died while he had shown great promise.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Kambilichukwu.

The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that Yul reported the matter and wrote a statement at a police station in his area.

SP Hundeyin said an investigation into the matter has commenced and that by Friday, 31 March 2023, the case would have been at the State Criminal Investigation Department.

“He just reported the case and we have commenced an investigation. By tomorrow, the case will be at the State CID. We will investigate what killed the boy.

“They have to carry out an autopsy to know what happened to him. We cannot tell you what happened to him now until the result of the autopsy is out, but the incident happened in his school,” Hundeyin told BBC News Pidgin.

Meanwhile, neither Yul nor his first wife, May, have broken their silence since the sad incident.

Some of Linc’s acting credits include The Principalities, Victim, Family Regardless, Ghost Lovers, The Manipulator, Royal Revenge, The Graduates, Royal Love, The Millions Men, and Scratched.

Linc Edochie is married to Amaka Paula, and the couple has two children, Janinah and Giovanni. The couple owns and operates an educational institution in Abuja called ABH Academy.

In a recent interview, Yul was asked to speak on why his brother stopped acting, also on if he plans to quit Nollywood too, and what life was like growing up with his father.

On why Linc stopped acting, Yul said: “Yeah, Linc started before me. He started like a year before I got in but later left to do something else. So, I would say we all have our own destiny.”

Speaking on if he plans to quit acting soon and what the future holds for him in Nollywood, Yul said: “No, I am not even thinking about that. Never! I studied Theatre Arts and I took my time to read this so I didn’t just get in. I have a passion for acting and I have a passion for directing but I don’t have a passion for producing.

“So, if I want to do my own films like right now I am planning on doing my own films, I am going to get a producer who is very good with that. Pay the producer to run everything but he’s going to be professional. So, I won’t say because it’s my film let me do everything, then I will mess it up.”

Yul also spoke on growing up with Nollywood icon, Pete Edochie, as his father.

His words: “It feels good. Growing up was really good with him as a father. He is extremely strict, but I thank God that He gave me a father like that. I couldn’t have wished for a better father. He is a strict catholic, so a lot of things I know today I learnt because of my background. Like I told you, I would rather die than dope. Kill me but I won’t dope and that’s how my father is.

“My father made us to understand that it is better to have a good name. Good name will get you riches and everything you need. That’s the kind of family I was raised in, and my mum too is very strict. There wasn’t much money then to throw around but we grew up loving God and each other.”

I’ll not be cajoled into accepting polygamy – May replies Yul Edochie

The first wife of popular Nollywood actor, May Yul-Edochie has replied to her husband, Yul Edochie, who a few days ago apologized publicly for forgiveness after taking actress Judy, as a second wife.

Posting on her Instagram page, May noted forgiveness is the highest, most beautiful form of love and the fact remains that anyone can choose to practice Polygamy but she can’t be impelled to accept what was never bargained for.

Her post reads: ”I strongly believe that mistakes are a major part of human existence. It is our response to these errors that count. In other words, forgiveness is one thing, and righting a wrong is another.

FORGIVENESS is the highest | most beautiful form of love for me. There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. Hence, my ability to forgive the mistakes of the past, present, and future with respect to the issue on ground is in the interest of my mental health and inner peace.

I decided to stick to love…Hate is too great a burden to bear. I am still very much incapable of HATING anyone, let alone the father of my children. The fact remains that anyone can choose to practice POLYGAMY, but can’t be impelled to accept what was never bargained for.

To reaffirm my stands, I will not be CAJOLED into accepting polygamy, which goes against my beliefs, faith, and values.
I will not be NUMBERED in a home that we started building with love, faith, tears, hopes, and prayers in a CATHOLIC marriage of 18 years following a long term premarital relationship.

This is also a passionate appeal to put an END to the constant “show” on the social media space where our kids are growing into unless it is absolutely necessary. Let’s prevent our lovely children from all the incessant drama series that might take a toll on them directly or indirectly amongst their peers.

May GOD in His infinite mercy and compassion guide us all in the right direction.

    Merry Christmas in advance everyone!”
