It’s unpardonable that APC leaders attended Buhari’s son’s turbaning ceremony when bandits are busy killing innocent Nigerians – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari over incessant attacks and killings in Sokoto, Niger, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau states, and other parts of the country by terrorists.

In a statement signed on Sunday by its spokesperson, Debo Ologun-Agba, the party asked the President to demonstrate leadership and empathy by personally visiting the troubled states in line with his campaign promise to lead the fight against terrorism from the front.

The PDP also berated APC and its leaders for finding time to attend the turbaning ceremony of President Buhari’s son in Katsina State and not showing empathy for the scores of people killed in bandit attacks.

“Is it not unpardonable that while the APC had failed to show empathy on the gruesome murder of scores of travelers who were burnt alive in Sokoto state, the massacre of over 15 worshippers in Niger state, other compatriots felled in Kaduna, Katsina, and other parts of the country in the last few days, its leaders and officials in government had the time to attend the turbaning ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son in the same troubled Katsina state?,” PDP questioned.

PDP likened the action of the APC leaders to dancing on the graves of the victims of the attacks. They, therefore, called out the APC to come clean on its alleged connection to killings.

“Nigerians can recall that despite demands by the PDP, the APC and its leaders have failed to account for the “political mercenaries” they reportedly imported from neighboring countries as thugs, gangsters, and hoodlums to unleash violence on Nigerians during the 2019 elections. The APC has also not explained the continued presence of a self-confessed terrorism apologist in its government,” PDP claimed.

The party urged the Buhari-led administration to develop a wholesome strategy to proactively tackle insecurity, including targeting the source of funds to terrorists, many of which were revealed by a foreign government.

The PDP commiserated with victims of the horrific attacks and urged Nigerians not to resign to despondency but continue to support one another and remain focused as we scale up our collective efforts to rescue and rebuild our nation.

The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar, on Saturday turbaned Yusuf Buhari, the only son of President Muhammadu Buhari as Talban Daura and district head of Kwasarawa community.

Umar said at the occasion that Buhari deserved to be appointed as district head considering the developmental strides brought to the emirate by his father.

He added that in his new role, he would be visiting Daura regularly and be participating in the daily routines of the emirate council, contributing his quota toward its development.

  • How ‘bandits’ hired private jets to attend Buhari son’s wedding in Kano – Sheikh Gumi

How ‘bandits’ hired private jets to attend Buhari son’s wedding in Kano – Sheikh Gumi

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has condemned the hiring of private jets by politicians to attend the wedding ceremony of Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The cleric described the politicians who hired private jets to attend Buhari son’s wedding in Kano as bandits.

Recall that President Buhari’s son married Zarah Bayero, the daughter of Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Bayero in a grand ceremony held in Bichi, Kano on Friday.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that the wedding was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, serving and former governors, traditional rulers, as well as prominent personalities from within and outside the country.

However, Gumi faulted Nigerian politicians for hiring private jets to attend the wedding during a preaching programme at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.

Except from the controversial cleric’s preaching below:

“Umar bn Kattab once took 16 dinar, which is equivalent to N2,040,000 today, from the treasury as estacode to Hajj. After their return, Umar admitted to Abdallah that they wasted public funds.

“Somebody told me private jets in Nigeria were all hired for the wedding of Buhari’s son. With your money, you can’t get a private jet because they were all booked.

“Some people are in captivity in both the bush and cities. Hunger is everywhere. People are facing all manner of problems, yet politicians spent public funds on private jets.

“When Prophet Mohammed married off his daughter, who came from Mecca or Yemen? In the entire Medina no righteous persons to oversee the solemnisation?

“First it was not an obligatory religious gathering. Umar bn Kattab went to Hajj. Second, public funds were taken to hire the private jets.

The cleric lamented about how politicians corrupted the clergy, saying religious leaders have become subservient to politicians.

“Some religious leaders cannot survive without behaving in a servile manner towards politicians.

“Politicians have spoilt the clerics. Atrocities are committed in the country but no one can speak up.

“You are spending money to hire jets to go to the wedding, while criminals are holding people to ransom in the bush. The criminals (bandits) are milking the people.

“Some people have never earned N1million in their life, but bandits would demand N10million. How many people sold their houses, farms, everything… and collected loans to pay a ransom?

“People think only those in the bush (bandits) milk us dry, no! Even our leaders milk us dry. Where did they get the money to hire all these jets?

“In one of the states, some pictures of a dilapidated hospital were sent to me. The roof was blown off and a patient was lying on the bed. That governor is in Kano to attend the wedding.

“How many schools were rehabilitated? The money that should be used to cater for the people is the one they hire private jets to junket around. Are you not also a bandit?

“We vent our anger against ourselves, other tribes. People are left killing themselves because of poor leadership,” Mr Gumi added.

While the passing out corps members reported to their different local government area for service to collect their discharge certificates, a picture of Yusuf being handed his own certificate at home by an NYSC official appeared on social media on Friday, attracting different reactions from Nigerians.

Many of them were not impressed by the home delivery service of the certificate to the President’s son while some few others don’t see anything wrong in that.

Below are some of the reactions:

  • Yusuf Buhari not dead – Presidency

The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has revealed that the president’s son, Yusuf, is not dead.

Yusuf suffered brain injury after he was involved in a bike accident on Tuesday December 26,2017 .

Onochie reacting to news of Yusuf’s death on her Twitter page, urged Nigerians to disregard the report

She wrote: “The news making the rounds regarding Yusuf Buhari, son of Pres. Buhari & Aisha Buhari, is Fake.

“He is very alive, to their shame.”

Yusuf Buhari was involved in an accident on December 26 in Abuja when he, along with a friend, was racing in the Nigerian capital and he veered off the road in the process.

  • El-Rufai remains adamant, insists sacked teachers won’t be re-absorbed

Kaduna State Government has told the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that teachers sacked from its civil service won’t be reabsorbed into the educational system in the state.

Alhaji Saidu Adamu, Counsellor on Information and Communication to Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, on Friday, said this in reaction to PDP’s comment, asserting the state government has embarked on “massive employment ever seen in the history of the state since independence”.

The PDP had accused the state government of insensitivity over the sack of about 22,000 teachers, 4,000 local government employees, 3000 state workers and traditional rulers.

But Adamu stressed that the administration was sanitising the civil service and injecting new blood as part of the reform process to make the service responsive, efficient and sustainable.

Adamu said: “Right from Nigeria’s independence, I want to believe that this is the first time Kaduna state government is making massive employment in our history.

“In one agency, KASTELA, the state government had employed over 2,600 personnel and we have already secured permission to employ additional 1,700 soon.

“We are currently doing same is various agencies, including KADIPA and KADGIS among other agencies in the state.’’

On the 22,000 teachers sacked by the government, Adamu said the administration would replace them with 25, 000 qualified ones.

“The teachers sacked have no business in the classroom,” he stressed, adding that the government was focused on laying a solid foundation at the primary level for children of the poor to acquire sound education.

“By sanitizing our primary schools, children of the poor would acquire the right education that would add value to their lives and the society and become something worthwhile in the future.

“No any sensible government will allow the way things are going in the education sector to continue.

“A situation where a primary school teacher and graduate of geography can’t even spell geography correctly, and you expect the government to allow such person to continue teaching, is not possible.

“It is high time to change the situation and we have screened those who applied for teaching jobs to get suitable replacements.

“We are also going to conduct physical and oral tests to confirm that we have the right persons, we want to have functional and qualified teachers in our schools.

“I want to also assure that what Kaduna state governor is doing is the best that any right-thinking leader should do.

“We have been left behind and we contributed to what is happening to us right now because the previous administrations did not care about the future of poor people.“
