    Zamfara APC vows to deal with erratic members

    The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it will deal with any erratic member trying to create problem in the party leadership in the state.

    This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Tuesday by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.

    He said, “The APC leadership, under Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, reiterate our support to President Bola Tinibu’s administration in the country.

    “Danfulani was elected under the supervision of INEC through a National Secretariat Congress Committee headed by a highly respected party man, Sen. Kabiru Masari who is the current Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu.”

    Idris said that the Zamfara chapter of the APC read, with dismay, a concoction of lies attributed to one Mansur Khalifa, who had been suspended from the party since March 17, 2024.

    According to him, the suspension was over alleged disrespect to the party and other forms misconduct.”

    He said that the State APC leadership had observed the Jaji support group’s constant alleged romance with the opposition PDP and SDP.

    “They are inching towards their possible defection from the APC,” he added.

    On the Ramadan packages distributed by party leaders, he appreciated all the individuals who supported the members.

    “The party remains fully grateful to them; we will urge them to continue to do more for the benefit of our members and entire people of the state.

    “Our leaders including the former Governor, Sen.  Abdulaziz Yari and the Minister of State, Defence, Bello Matawalle, had supported thousands of beneficiaries from the nooks and crannies in the state with cash, grains and clothing materials.”

    Idris stated that Matawalle remained the APC leader in Zamfara, adding, “they have failed to understand what we have been telling them because of their envy for Matawalle.

    “The APC has a constitution that guides its politicking which whether they like it or not, He is the leader of Zamfara APC.

    “The constitution of our great party has clearly spelt out that if there is a sitting Governor in a state who is a member of APC, he is the leader.

    “If there is no Minister from the state, a past governor is the leader.

    So, Matawalle, both as the immediate past governor and the current Minister from Zamfara, is the APC leader.

    “Challenging Matawalle is misconduct and disrespect to the party’s constitutional guideline.”

    Zamfara governor appoints new Head of Service

    Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of Yakubu Haidara as the substantive Head of the Zamfara Civil Service.

    This is contained in a statement on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada,

    Haidara will replace Ahmad Liman, who retired from the civil service on Feb. 28, 2025.

    Haidara, a 1989 Political Science graduate from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, was appointed Permanent Secretary in 2012 and has served in various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

    Until his appointment, he was the Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

    The governor thanked the outgoing Head of Service for his dedication and urged the new appointee to uphold integrity and adhere strictly to Public Service rules.

    The appointment takes immediate effect.

    AAC governorship candidate, others defect to APC

    Rep, Aminu Jaji (APC-Zamfara) has received former Zamfara Governorship Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in the 2023 election, Mallam Muhammad Kabir-Sani into the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zamfara chapter.

    Kabir-Sani defected along with members of the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly candidates’ Forum.

    The decampees with their thousands of their followers joined the APC through the Jajiyya APC political movement under the leadership of Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka.

    They announced their defection to the APC  with thousands of AAC and PDP members after a meeting with the lawmaker in his Gusau residence.

    The former AAC governorship candidate said they decided to join APC under the Jaji Political Movement.

    “We are convinced with the performance and good representation of Aminu Jaji considering various developmental achievements he had recorded in his constituency and Zamfara in general,” he said.

    Also speaking, Ibrahim Labbo-Anka, the representative of the PDP state house of assembly candidates’ forum said they decided to join APC because it has remained the strongest political party in the state.

    “We had fruitful discussions with mutual understanding with Hon. Aminu Jaji; so, we decided to join the APC, we will remain in the party for the development of our dear state, ” he said.

    Receiving the decampees, Jaji, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Ecological Fund, commended them for joining the APC.

    The federal lawmaker described the defectors’ action as a welcome development for the APC in the state and Nigeria in general.

    He assured the decampees of fair treatment and good working relationships to enhance the  capacity of the party in the state.

    Jaji expressed confidence that the political experience and calibre of the defectors, especially their leaders would boost the strength of the Jajiyya movement and the entire APC family in the state.

    “I urge you to remain with APC and feel free to contribute to the best of your capacity for the development of the APC,” the lawmaker said.

    Earlier, the State Chairman, APC-Jajiyya movement, Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka, described the movement as strongest political group having active structure across the 14 local government areas of the state.

    Ajiya-Anka promised that all the decampees would be engaged in the party’s activities without any discrimination.

    He urged them to remain committed to the development of the party by promoting unity, peace and stability in the APC.

    APC condemns alleged attacks on members in Zamfara

    The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned alleged attacks on its members by some sponsored suspected thugs.

    This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.

    “The state APC leadership described the incident as uncalled for.

    “This is condemnable and unacceptable, we are calling on the security agencies in the state to ensure a thorough investigation of the matter,” Idris said.

    He added that the APC as a peace loving party in the state would not accept any obnoxious and unwarranted acts of  intimidation and harassment.

    “The APC will continue to maintain its position as the strongest political party in Zamfara and nobody will intimidate us.

    “The State APC chapter is hereby warning politicians in the state who always attack its members and properties especially when the party is organising or carrying out an activity in the state.

    “Our members were attacked by some suspected political thugs while moving from Gusau to Bungudu town for a function organised by a lawmaker, Abdulmalik Zubairu,” the spokesperson added.

    According to Idris, the members of the party were moving to attend the official inauguration of over N1billion worth of empowerment projects executed by Rep. Abdulmalik Zubairu for the benefit of his constituents and the state in general.

    “The political thugs openly and strategically stationed themselves along the Gusau to Bungudu Road to perpetrate the attack.

    “This led to the destruction of many vehicles and wounding of their occupants simply because they are APC members.

    “We are therefore calling on the state Police Command and other security agencies to immediately swing into action and arrest the suspected perpetrators,” Idris urged.

    The State APC leadership also urged its members to remain patient as the party would ensure that justice was done to all those attacked and those who sustained injuries.

    Idris appealed, “We are also calling on our members to remain calm and not to be discouraged by any intimidation and harassment”.

    Zamfara: Gov Lawal appoints 12 Perm Secs

    Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has approved the appointment of 12 Permanent Secretaries into the state civil service.

    This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Friday by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Nakwada.

    The statement said the measure was to bolster the administrative capacity of the government for improved service delivery to the people.

    “The appointment followed due process coordinated by the Office of the Head of the State Civil Service.

    “The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries include Muhammad Salihu, Sani Abubakar, Hassan Shehu Usman, Engr. Haruna Dikko, Dr Abubakar Muhammad and Aminu Almajir.

    “The rest are Dr Yakubu Sanusi, Maryam Shantali, Sa’adatu Abdu Gusau, Suwaiba Ibrahim Barau, Rilwanu Musa and Sanusi Bello Jabaka,” the statement added.

    The appointees were charged to bring in their wealth of experience and expertise towards enhancing the productivity of the state civil service in line with the best practices.

    Tragedy strikes as 17 students perish in Zamfara school fire

    Atleast 17 Almajiri students have died following a devastating fire outbreak at an Islamiya school  in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the fire started late on Tuesday night. February 4, 2025, and raged for about three hours, leaving 16 others injured.

    A resident of the area, Abdulrasaq Bello Kaura, told Channels Television that the cause of the fire was reported to be some stored sticks locally called kara.

    “It happened at Makaranta Mallam Ghali, inside their study hall. There are about 100 of them in the house, after they evacuated the students, they thought none of them remained inside the house, it was when they returned after the fire, they started seeing their legs, hands, they got burnt beyond recognition,” the source said.

    He added that the dead students have been buried on Wednesday.

    The Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government, Comrade Mannir Muazu Haidara, who confirmed the incident said he was on his way to the scene and would provide further details later.

    Zamfara Assembly: APC fumes over Minority Leader seat declared vacant

    The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, condemned the  state House Assembly’s declaration of the Minority Leader’s seat vacant.

    This is contained in a statement by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris issued in Gusau, Zamfara.

    The minority leader, Alhaji Aliyu Ango-Kagara represents Talata Mafara South State Constituency in the assembly on the platform of APC.

    The State legislators had during the plenary on Tuesday declared Ango-Kagara’s seat vacant over alleged absenteeism.

    The state APC publicity secretary, however, described the assembly’s action as an embarrassment and  abuse of office.

    “We consider the assembly’s action as a move to weed out the APC from the state assembly.

    “The declaration of the minority leader’s seat vacant was just for political reasons to silence the opposition in the house,” Idris alleged.

    The State APC appealed to the National Assembly to call the Zamfara assembly to order.

    “We condemn the action of Zamfara assembly, we caution the state lawmakers that the matter may lead the APC  to approach a Court of law for proper interpretation and claim of  damages.

    “We condemn the assembly in totality, this is coming in addition to the illegal suspension of eight members of the house since January 2024,” Idris added.

    The APC leadership in the state also alleged that members of the opposition party in the state were suspended illegally by the house without recourse to the constitutional provision or House standing rules.

    “This is very unfortunate that the leadership of the house have been fighting their colleagues who refused to dance to their tunes especially as rubber stamps.

    “Even if a member of the house is found in violation of the House rules, he must be given fair hearing preceding any action and not the blind-folded action of those members who think their uniformed act will hold water,” Idris said.

    Airstrike: APC Zamfara mourns victims

    The Zamfara Chapter of the APC has commiserated with  government and people of the state  on the  accidental airstrike, leading to  death of innocent people  at Tungar Kara, kakindawa village, Gidan Goga District,  Maradun local government area.

    In a statement in Gusau on Sunday, the State APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Yusuf Idris described the incident as unfortunate.

    “The Zamfara APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani wishes to extend heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the state over the accidental airstrike on Saturday, Dec. 11.”

    Idris further  described the incident as sad as it led to the death of innocent people,  including some personnel of the state’s Community Protection Guard and Vigilantes.

    “We  mourn the gallant sacrifices of our people  who paid the supreme price while chasing bandits who have made life unbearable for  them.

    “We pray to Allah to accept their martyrdom and accommodate them in Jannah and give their families, the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.”

    He said the  leadership of the party in the state also commended President Bola Tinubu for showing commitments to end banditry in  Zamfara  and the northwest region.

    “We laud the Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle for  ensuring that no stone was left unturned in the fight against insecurity in  the  northwest region.

    “We also appreciate the ongoing onslaught against  bandits in Zamfara  that saw to the elimination of many criminals.

    “We are happy with the ongoing efforts by Operation Fansar Yamma that led to  killing of over 25 terrorists at their hideouts, under the control of notorious bandit’s kingpin,  Bello Turji in Fakai community in  Shinkafi  council.

    “It  is quite impressive that troops of Fasan Yamma are taking the fights now to the bandits’ hideouts,  making them flee from the areas.

    “This operational strategy should be sustained and supported by all peace loving citizens.”

    Zamfara Gov approves 13th-month salary for workers

    Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the payment of 13th-month salary to both civil and public servants in the State.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the approval is contained in a circular signed and sent out by the Zamfara State Head of Service, Ahmad Aliyu Liman.

    “Zamfara civil and public servants, including retirees, will receive a bonus of 30 percent of their basic salary as the 13th-month salary.”

    “This initiative acknowledges the dedication and hard work of the Zamfara workforce by providing them with extra financial support during the holiday season.”

    “The 13th-month salary payment is one of several initiatives aimed at empowering workers and fostering economic growth in Zamfara State.”

    “To fulfil its promises, the government has cleared over N10 billion in gratuities owed over the past 11 years, approved a minimum wage of N70,000, and ensured workers’ salaries were paid on time,” the circular reads.

    Lawmaker receives 1,500 defectors to APC in Zamfara

    Rep, Aminu Jaji, (APC-Zamfara) has received 1,500 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Young Progressive Party  (YPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    Jaji, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Ecological Fund, represents Birnin Magaji/Kaura Namoda Federal Constituency.

    This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Monday by the lawmaker’s Media Assistant, Jamilu Iliyasu.

    He said that the defectors included the leaders and supporters of  PDP, APGA, YPP and other political parties in the state.

    Jaji, represented by the State Chairman, APC Jajiyyaa Group, Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka commended the decampees who joined APC through the Jajiyyaa political movement.

    Iliyasu quoted the lawmaker as describing the action of the defectors as a welcome development to the APC.

    Jaji assured the decampees of fair treatment and good working relationship to enhance the capacity of the party in the state.

    He expressed confidence that the caliber of the defectors, especially the leaders of other political parties would boost the strength of Jajiyya movement.

    According to Iliyasu, prominent politicians among the decampees included the former state APGA Chairman, Alhaji Rabi’u Salisu-Bature, with hundreds of APGA members from across the state.

    He added that they included the state YPP Chairman, Alhaji  Sani Anka, along with hundreds of YPP members from across the state.

    “Other prominent decampees also included PDP leader from Shinkafi Local Government Area and a former Director-General, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf and a Shinkafi PDP elder, Malam Ibrahim Tado.

    ”Other defectors to APC included PDP the Women leader, Shinkafi LGA, Hajiya Abu Alasan and the PDP Youth leader, Shinkafi LGA, Lukman Hamidu,” he added.

    Iliyasu further explained that the rest of the decampees were: Hajiya Zainab Aliyu-Lawyer, Mas’udu Wada and Babangida Adamu, among other teeming PDP supporters from Shinkafi LGA.
