  • Ligue 1: PSG set to fire Pochettino, make plans to hire Zidane

Paris Saint-Germain football club of France have finalize decision to replace current coach with  Mauricio Pochettino.

Both parties have reached an agreement in principle for Zidane to join the French side ahead of next season’s campaign.

RMC Sport claims sources at the Parc des Princes have refused to deny the reports.

Spain born coach Pochettino has a year left on his contract and the management of PSG is ready to pay him off by buying out the remaining months in his contract papers.

Pochettino was hired with the sole aim of winning the Champions League trophy but he hasn’t been able to do so. PSG crashed out in the quarter-final of the competition last season after losing to Real Madrid 3-2 on aggregate.

The outfit’s hierarchy have publically stated their desire to win the competition with Zidane having guided the Spanish giants to the title three seasons in a row.

At Madrid, the 1998 World Cup winner with France also lifted La Liga as well as the Copa del Rey twice.

Zidane was in Paris at the same time as the Emir of Qatar for last month’s Champions League final at the Stade de France, which was won by Real.

Earlier, PSG announced the arrival of Luis Campos as their football advisor to replace the departed Leonardo.

The 57-year-old Portuguese helped Monaco to the French crown in 2017 as well as Lille four years later and worked alongside Kylian Mbappe on the Mediterranean coast.

One of Campos’ tasks will be player signings with RMC Sport reporting free agent Paul Pogba is waiting for the official arrival of Zidane at PSG to start discussions about joining the side.

“I am delighted to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, which I consider is the most ambitious and exciting club in world football,” Campos said in a PSG statement.

“I believe strongly in and share the vision of the club and I cannot wait to get started to further unleash the great potential of this exceptional club.”

The new French top-flight season begins on August 6 with the French Trophée des Champions five days earlier as PSG face Nantes in Israel.

La Liga: Isco slams Madrid boss Zidane

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has taken a swipe at Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane, claiming that he is being ostracised by the Frenchman.

The 28-year-old has not featured for either of Los Blancos’ last two outings, the 3-1 Clasico victory over Barcelona on Saturday and the stunning 3-2 Champions League loss to Shakhtar Donetsk three days earlier.

Indeed, Isco has played only sporadically this season, making four appearances after sustaining a sprained ankle in the summer.

It is a situation that the former Malaga man is not happy about.

“If he has to take me off, he takes me off in the 50th or 60th minute of the game. Sometimes even at half-time,” the player complained on Movistar+’s ‘El Partidazo’ program. “If he has to put me on, he’ll do it in the 80th minute.”

La Liga: Zidane dismisses ‘Special One’ label

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane insisted he was not “special”, saying he was simply lucky to be in charge of Los Blancos.

Zidane has led Madrid to the LaLiga title this season for his 11th trophy as coach of the Spanish giants.

But the Frenchman dismissed any suggestions he felt like the “special one” – a title Jose Mourinho has previously used to describe himself.

“No, no. I don’t feel that. I feel lucky to be here with these players every day,” Zidane told a news conference.

“And being in this club, that’s why I feel lucky, and that’s why I enjoy that much every day. Because one day [it] will finish, as it happened already, but this time for real.

“That’s why I am enjoying and focused on these kinds of things.” Madrid’s LaLiga title was their first since 2016-17 when Cristiano Ronaldo led them to the crown.

Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos admits Zinedine Zidane will ultimately decide his fate with Real Madrid.

Ceballos is on a straight loan at Arsenal, which is due to expire on June 30.

And he admits even if Real president Florentino Perez is a fan of his, the final decision will be left to coach Zidane over whether he will be part of the squad next season.

He said, “I am optimistic, I have a contract and from next season we will see.

“I don’t think Florentino is the one who has the say, it is the coaches who have to decide if I am in their plans.”

  • UCL: Madrid win to ease pressure on Zidane

UCL: Madrid win to ease pressure on Zidane

Real Madrid collected their first Champions League victory of the season at Galatasaray to ease the pressure on manager Zinedine Zidane.

The La Liga side suffered a shock league defeat against Mallorca at the weekend and had failed to win their opening two group games, with reports in Spain suggesting Frenchman Zidane could be sacked if they lost in Istanbul.

But Toni Kroos’ deflected first-half strike following Eden Hazard’s cutback was enough to seal the three points.

Big money summer signing Hazard should have made it a more comfortable scoreline for the 13-time European champions but somehow struck the crossbar from six yards out with an open goal.

Turkish champions Galatasaray provided plenty of goalscoring threat but could not find the leveller with on-loan Brighton striker Florian Andone thwarted twice by sharp Thibaut Courtois saves and Steven Nzonzi heading over from close range late on.

Real’s win moves them up to second in Group A, five points behind leaders Paris St-Germain who eased past Club Bruges.

La Liga: I’ll fight until my last day – Zidane

Under-pressure Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says he is “going to fight right until my last day”.

Despite his side leading La Liga after seven games Zidane has been criticised, with Real under-performing in Europe.

Real, who fought back from two goals down to earn a first Champions League Group A point against Club Bruges on Tuesday, face second-placed Granada in La Liga at home on Saturday.

On his position, Zidane said: “I know where I am and that’s always the case.”

He added: “That’s what the role of a coach is like for all of us. I’m going to fight right until my last day because I enjoy what I do and feel as if I’m up to it.”

Real are one point ahead of promoted side Granada, who have already stunned champions Barcelona 2-0 this season.

  • La Liga: Bale very close to Madrid exit – Zidane

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is “very close to leaving” the Spanish club, says boss Zinedine Zidane.

The Wales international, 30, was left out of Real’s 3-1 pre-season defeat by Bayern Munich in Houston, USA.
Speaking after the game, Zidane said: “We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.
“I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done.”
Bale, who has three years left on his Real contract, has won the Champions League four times since his £85m move to Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 – a world record deal at the time.
In response to Zidane’s comments, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett told AFP: “Zidane is a disgrace – he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid.”
Bale has been linked with Premier League sides Manchester United and Tottenham, German champions Bayern and also a move to the Chinese Super League.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was asked about his side’s reported interest in Bale after their 3-2 pre-season friendly win over Juventus in Singapore on Sunday.
“I saw in the media but I don’t know which club is trying to sign him,” replied the Argentine. “I don’t know if we are or if it’s another club.
“It’s not my job, it’s the job of my chairman, who is trying to build the best squad possible.”
Injury problems have limited Bale to 79 La Liga starts in the past four seasons. He played 42 matches in all competitions for Los Blancos last term, 13 of those as a substitute.
