U.S. Senate begins impeachment trial of President Trump

The U.S. Senate has began the impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump, after the U.S House of Representatives voted to impeach President Trump in December.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Senate will vote to find Trump guilty or not guilty of abuse of power and obstruction of congress, and whether his actions are impeachable or not.

The Senate impeachment trial convened, and Adam Schiff, Lead Impeachment Manager, and Chairman of House Intel Committee read the charges leveled against Trump in the Senate chamber.

Schiff said the misconduct described in President Trump’s impeachment articles “is the most serious ever charged against a president”.

“If a president can obstruct his own investigation…then the president places himself beyond accountability, above the law. Cannot be indicted, cannot be impeached. It makes him a monarch,” Schiff said.

He went further to say that the American people want a fair trial but that they don’t believe that will happen.
