Youths in Deltas state, Nigeria under the aegis of Urhobo Youths Leaders Association (UYLA) have concluded plans to welcome the former Governor of Delta State, Olorogun James Onanefe Ibori from the United Kingdom to Oghara.
Olorogun Ibori, who regained freedom recently after over four years imprisonment in the United Kingdom, which UYLA have described as “political witch-hunting,” is expected to return to Nigeria later this month.
According to a press release signed by the secretary of UYLA, Comrade Vincent Oyibo, the decision to welcome former Governor Ibori was reached at a breakfast meeting held at UYLA’s chairman, Comrade Francis Arhiyor’s Conference Hall in Effurun town of the State.
“It would be recalled that in 2012, members of the UYLA visited Olorogun Ibori in Dubai and London prisons.
“The group also organized press conferences drawing the attention of the world to the oppression against Olorogun Ibori, the advocate of resource control and true federalism.
“The appeals by the association for the Government to intervene and set him free without conditions fell on deaf ears,” Comrade Arhiyor reminded during the meeting.
According to the release, members of the UYLA were advised to put on the association’s attire to the welcome ceremony billed to hold in Oghara on a date to be announced later.
The meeting was attended by prominent Delta state youths from the 26 ethnic segments of the Urhobo nation.
Among those in attendance were, Comr. Francis Arhiyor, Comr.Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, Sylvester Femi Okumagba, Austin Atiti, Chief Westham Adehor, Kingsley Eta and Ochuko Kaya
Others are Toni Ofoni, Julius Inyevwe, Moses Darah, Julius Okri, Allison Ohwogaga, Hon. Efe Mafuru, Tennyson Obiunu and Ernest Nikoro.
