The Borno State Police Command says it lost four of its personnel in Rann, during the recent Boko Haram attack.
This is according to Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu, during the monthly briefing with top officers of the command.
Chukwu said the police are working with the Army.
He said that about 500 of its personnel including the mobile policemen have been deployed to work alongside troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole.
The CP also conveyed the directive of the Inspector General of Police that illegally possessed arms be retrieved from unauthorised persons.
The IGP ordered the retriving of unlicensed arms to avoid further blood shed in the country.
The Borno CP also revealed that Cattle rustling, kidnapping, Armed robbery and insurgency are carried out using unauthorised arms.
He said that with the IGP’s directive, hunters and local vigilante are allowed to possess only dane guns and single barrel guns.
“A 21 day grace has been given from today for those on the wrong side of the law to voluntarily return arms that fall outside the approved category to the nearest police station.
“Failure to comply within the 21 days period of grace will attract prosecution”.
