Sinwar killed in Rafah while fleeing, Netanyahu claims

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed new details about the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, claiming he was killed while attempting to flee from Israeli forces in Rafah, a city near Gaza’s southern border with Egypt.

Netanyahu stated that Sinwar, along with several Hamas militants, had been hiding in Rafah when Israeli soldiers closed in.

He described the Hamas leader’s death as occurring “in panic,” while trying to escape.

In his address, Netanyahu defended Israel’s ongoing military actions, saying, “It is now clear why we refused to end the war,” despite international calls for restraint.

He stressed that entering Rafah was necessary, despite external pressure against it.

Netanyahu also issued a warning to those holding hostages in Gaza, offering a chance for surrender: “Anyone who lays down their arms and releases our hostages will be allowed to leave and live.”

He added a stern message for those who harm hostages: “Their blood will be on their own heads, and we will make them pay.”
