Argentina maintain control in latest FIFA rankings

Lionel Messi –  inspired Argentina maintain their grip at the summit of the latest FIFA World Ranking issued by the governing body on Thursday morning (21 September).

France lost some points as the second best football team in the world but still maintain their position in the rankings reales yesterday.

The top five remains unchanged with Brazil in third place, England (4th) and Belgium (5th).

The leaders are then followed by Croatia (6th), the Netherlands (7th) and Portugal (8th), who are the only team amongst the top ten to climb a position as Italy (9th) slip down one place after having been held to a 1-1 draw away to, what is becoming their bogey team in North Macedonia. Nations League winners Spain are in tenth spot.

Mexico is ranked 12th, Uruguay 17th, Canada, whose national team program is in shambles is 44th in the world. San Marino has the dubious honor of being the worst ranked nation in the world at 205.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria is ranked 40th in the world and sixth in Africa. While Morocco and Srnegal are ranked first and second in Africa and 13th and 20th in the world rankings  respectively.
